I can't believe it's been that long! Deployments with a kid are a different beast~it's like you are lonely but you are never alone! A good Friend and I have laughed over that statement many times. We are getting by, day by day.
Madison is potty training now and that sure is a roller coaster. She like all kids is having good and bad days with it and lots of bad ones..LOL. Life is very interesting lately. She also has been sick for the last 2 weeks (really since December) with allergy issues. She has had a cough ever since our trip home in December and it finally caught up with her and got out of control. I think we are finally on the right track with the proper cocktail of meds for her. She takes 3 allergy medications daily to keep her coughing and runny nose under control. I think we're both stir crazy from being in the house so much lately!
I hear from Tony sporadically. A few days in a row I will get email and then out of the blue nothing. And occasionally I will get a phone call but they are few and far between lately. He transferred to a new Unit (no he didn't get fired from his other job) and now he is doing a Major's billet. He is truly busy every waking minute. The other job was boring but he is not bored anymore. I mailed him a care package and it got to him in 11 days. He has a new mailing address now that he is with 1st BN, 2nd Marines.
Madison and I are trying to stay busy. I have her in mommy and me gymnastics, she goes to a parents morning out each week. And she is in the daycare at the gym while I get to work out. On Thursday's I take her to story hour or we have a playdate with some of our friends. This Friday I have a brunch with the kids planned. Should be fun. I am also planning Madison's birthday party's (yes 2 this year). She will be 3 and since our family is out of state I am having a party for her with them and one here with her friends from NC. It's nice to have things to look forward to.Erin Davishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16216135440585344228noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36772377.post-21548011828282383272010-03-23T16:16:00.000-07:002010-03-23T16:54:02.792-07:00What a day!

I know many of you are not on FACEBOOK yet. So, some of you don't know that I heard from Tony this week!!! He called us yesterday and I am happy to report he is doing well. Our phone conversations have been very short and sweet. I have been getting a few emails from him. He has told me they are keeping him extremely busy! Thank You for all the prayers and love you are sending his way.

Yesterday, I took Madison to get her pictures made for Easter. And then a stop off at the Mall to get a Easter Bunny picture. I was quite shocked she sat in her lap (yep the Easter Bunny was a girl); because recently she has been very frightened of characters. But, we got through it and I managed to work with her to get a decent smile. At the first photo shoot, there was a little girl around 3 pitching the biggest fit I have ever seen in all my life. I mean it was the whole nine yards....Supernanny please help! The problem is Madison was staring in wide eyed amazement and I could see her taking notes...I mean it was like...okay, kick mom~check, scream in mom's face~check, hit mom~check, everything but biting occurred. I pulled Madi away and tried to divert her attention. . .. but my future flashed before my eyes and I knew it was not going to be good! After we left I talked to Madi about the little girls temper tantrum and we both agreed that she was very naughty to her mom. And then I woke up!

Today we went to gymnastics and I never even saw it coming! I wasn't prepared for Madi to flex her assertiveness today and try the new techniques she took note of. . . .It was terrible, she was terrible and I was terrible! All day long this baby has done nothing but scream, cry and test test test......CALGON Take me away, SERENITY NOW, and GOD GRANT ME THE STRENGTH!!!
Here is hoping that tomorrow really will bring a NEW DAY.

Enjoy the pictures,
Erin D and Madi

Erin Davishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16216135440585344228noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36772377.post-25460622690005412922010-02-13T07:01:00.001-08:002010-02-13T08:20:26.590-08:00I don't believe it??? We got snow in NC!
So, we kept hearing yesterday that we would get snow late last night. The problem was we had been told this same forecast so many times. At 6pm it was only 44 degrees; so even if it did snow, as predicted, it wouldn't stick.....what a bummer this would be!

We put Madi to bed at 9pm and she was super tired, because she didn't take her nap. Then about 9:30pm or so, we got some flurries. We didn't wake her up to see it and I prayed there would be some in the morning for her.

Tony and I decided to go out and get some pictures of it last night just in case. He stayed up playing video games and there were many times I heard the door open and shut last night. Just like a little kid he couldn't stay indoors when the white stuff is falling from the sky!

When Madison woke up it was white everywhere. She wanted to go out in it at 6:45am...NO WAY!!! I had to convince her to wait for "Dad" (that's what she calls him now) to wake up and go with us. She wasn't listening at first, and showed up with her rain boots on. Next, she took Tony a pair of her rain boots to try and motivate him to get up earlier, so funny! Silly girl, nothing gets him up early!!!!

Dad finally got up and we all went out and played for about 20 minutes. I tried to talk Tony into going to Toys'R'Us to buy her a sled but the answer was a big emphatic, "NO".

So, we let her play on his snowboard. Everytime we got dressed up to play in it; she would get up and prepare for her leash ~Haha. Now, I just need to talk Rosie into going out with us next time :D

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day and since he and I celebrated last weekend; we are going to make it all about her. Tony is going to give her a Princess Castle and we will take her some where fun. She is going to flip out when she see's the castle, it's all she's been talking about! Keep us all in your prayers this week. Tony is leaving for his year in Afghanistan. We will miss him dearly. I am doing as well as can be expected in the situation and Madison is fine. We keep telling her Daddy has to go on a big bye bye and we will talk to him on the phone. Tony is torn up about missing a year of her life, but it's what he does to provide for us (in so many ways)!

Keep in touch and as soon as I hear from him I will let you know! December came and went so fast; I wasn't able to send out Christmas Cards this year to anyone. We had a very quiet evening for New Year's Eve as we were still getting over our cold's, cough's and congestion's. I am still struggling to get rid of my symptom's. I hope you all are doing well this year!
So far, we have visited the Children's Discovery Museum, and Monkey Joe's (an indoor inflatables playground). Madison was pleased with both of those outings. She didn't want to leave the Museum, as expected, because it was so tactile & kid friendly. We did some experiments with colored water tubes, pretended to be Pirates, and finished up with some water coloring, or as she thinks, "Painting" ☺. We ended the day with a trip to the Mall in Wilmington. It has a two-story carousel and she was able to ride it 4 times! It was fun to see her pick out the animal she wanted to ride, and since it was so close to Christmas she picked out the reindeer. Monkey Joe's was a wonderful time for her to get worn out! In the beginning I had to help her climb up onto the larger inflatables. But by the time we left she was getting the idea on her own. She was so proud of her accomplishments and so was I. It gave me a chance to catch my breath! Lugging a 25 lb kid up an inflatable is hard work on a mama!!!
We are all getting prepared for Tony's departure; well as much as we can be. He is leaving us in about a week for a few weeks of training in Q-Va. After he is done with that he can officially deploy anytime. We still do not know have a hard date for when it will be only that we know it will be before March. I wouldn't be able to put dates on here anyway. When he is gone and gets me an address I will send it out to anyone that would want it. For now, we are playing the waiting game.
Madison is still enjoying her Parents Morning Out program, gymnastics and I started her in a Mommy and Me group last week. It was fun, and she had a great time. It's on base and each week is a different theme. The first week we went was all about Birthday's, they played party games, made party hats, ate a cupcake they decorated and had a story. Next week, is all about Pets. I am trying to get her exposed to something new with more of a crafty/art concept. She has become quite the little artists lately.
Well that's about all I can say for now. I just wanted everyone to know that you were not forgotten at Christmas. I just ran out of time for the cards ☺.
Stay Warm and I will report again soon! I will upload some photo's sometime this week so check back with me ;DErin Davishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16216135440585344228noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36772377.post-2468333427838781832009-12-07T06:56:00.000-08:002009-12-12T09:52:56.797-08:00Long Time, No BlogIt has been so long since I have posted any thing new. Sorry. I will try and do better in 2010. Where to begin? The last half of 2009 has brought many waves of emotions. In late June of 2009 we moved from Kentucky to North Carolina. I have kept the baby and I busy with endless activities. 1st to say she is no longer a baby, but now a fully grown toddler (haha).

We started the Summer with Madison's 2nd Birthday. Nothing big, but a special visit from her Grandparents made it a wonderful day! They departed on July 4th and we celebrated the Nations birth viewing fireworks from the base. A week later her other set of Grandparents came to see her too. We spent many hours at Onslow Beach, and it quickly became a family favorite hot spot. After deciding that Madison liked the water, we tried our hand at Swim Lesson's and of course, we hung out by the pool with our friends, The Smith Girls. Tony was promoted to Company Commander of Alpha Company on July 10, 2009. It was a very proud day for Madison and I; proud of our Marine. He also tried his hand at surfing, but I think better luck next year! Madison and I missed him dearly in August while he was away for Mojave Viper in 29 Palms. So we traveled to GA for a wedding (congratulations Jenni and Coe), a surgery (for my big bro) and a visit with family (Lewis's, Davis's and Gravitt's) and friends (Thanks Felicia for meeting me around our schedule!). The surgery was canceled (for my brother) during our trip and rescheduled for 2 weeks later. We ended up not being able to stay that long :( My brother, has recovered and returned to work, PTL! I know he and his wife are as relieved as can be knowing his ordeal is over. I ask you all to keep them in your prayers and hopefully they can begin a new with good health in 2010, as do we all!

After August came weekly activities like gymnastics, Parents Morning Out, and story time at the library. In September we enjoyed Family Day for 2nd Tank BN, which included Madi's favorite activity: BOUNCY HOUSES! If there is a bouncy house at an event she has to get in it! October was great, we visited Mike's Farm for Pumpkins, enjoyed a spooky obstacle course at gymnastics, went to an Oktoberfest (and it rained off and on all day), trick or treated at the BN, dressed up for story time, went to a Fall Fest at the elementary school in our neighborhood (with baby Katie and Miss Ashleigh, and of course Trick-or-Treated in our neighborhood (with our neighbor's grandson Kyan and his siblings! Talk about a full calendar. Madison is quite the social butterfly.

November the month of balls, turkey's and giving thanks, a Chuck E. Cheese birthday party, Madi's school Fall Festival, Jacksonville parade, and the arrival of Santa at the Jacksonville Mall. We ended up staying put in Jacksonville for Thanksgiving and it turned out okay. I still wish we could have made it home for a Gravitt Thanksgiving Gathering. It would have been the first one I have been to since getting married :( Oh well, there's always next year :D So, after we stuffed our faces with a meal that took me two days to cook we had dessert with our friends the Rosedale's. We met some new people and a game of Scene-It was played. Tony and I were on the same team (3 on a team) and our team ended up winning! Thanks to Mr. Gillespie for carrying us LOL! The month started off chaotic with the Ball coming up fast and a dress search that ended with a classy touch. I was searching for a gown up until about a week before; it was too close for comfort for me. We took Madison to her Fall Festival and were so grateful that Tony's parents could come and baby/pet/house sit for us. The ball was fabulous in Myrtle Beach; and that was our first time going to the area. We ended up making it just in time for the ceremony and the Ball pics. We will definitely be going back to Myrtle Beach with the baby; it looked like so much fun. I also got to see New Moon, with Kimberly L. So glad she moved to the area and can't wait to start making some more J-ville memories with her and the family! We met up with some friends and saw Santa arrive at the Mall complete with a show and snow! It snows every 5 minutes that Santa is on duty at the mall here. The next day we watched the parade on Western Blvd. So glad we got to see our dear friend Jeff Smith while he was home for his 2 week R&R. Keep praying for him to stay safe and get home in April to his girls! Keeping with my tradition's; I decked my hall's on Black Friday and opted not to go out shopping. Incidentally, I still have not really begun my holiday shopping yet. . . .Madison wants a doll highchair and doll clothes this year.

December brings this blog up to speed and has proven to already be the busiest month so far. I don't mind though, we are having lots of fun. Currently, Tony is in the field and is slated to switch units at some point this month. We don't know what the new unit will have for leave yet, so it's pretty difficult to plan a family trip at this point. We WILL be coming to GA this month we just don't know what day's yet. I hope we can see everyone on our list at some point. We are missing Tony as he is sleeping in the cold and feeling badly that he is out in some pretty nasty weather. We think of him every time our house shakes here, from the Tanks Firing at the range. We can hear them all night long and it reminds me of little earthquakes. Thanks Honey! To keep Madison distracted there has been many fun things to do. We started off the season with a cookie swap/decorating playdate with her playgroup, got her hair cut for the first time, saw a children's concert (she was bad) and sat on Santa's lap for the first time this season, a family fun fest, and most recently a Christmas hayride at Mike's Farm. I myself enjoyed the FREE Family Fun Fest and Mike's Farm the most. I think Madison would say they were her favorites as well! She was excellent at the FFF, and Mike's Farm was a huge hit for her. Music + Lights + Hayride = Madison smiles!! We have enjoyed so many wonderful activities here in North Carolina. And December's calendar keeps getting filled.

Some of you know this already, but many do not. Tony is going to deploy again some time early Spring of 2010. Please pray for him that God will keep him safe and guide his steps. Keep Madison in your prayers as well. She is young and doesn't understand why he leaves. Pray for angels to comfort her. Pray for my Grace and Strength to be her mom and dad while he is away. For all this I thank you.

I hope that throughout the Season you find peace in your hearts, love in your souls, and happiness brimming over from your spirit. I know this is what I am feeling this year. I have so many wonderful blessings to be thankful for and I wish you the same.

Enjoy the pictures and I hope to do a much better job of keeping this blog up to date ;-D don't be mad if I fail.
Love
Erin Davis

PS the Slide show is over 300 pics. It was very friendly and we asked it to open it's feather's and it did. I got some great pictures of it. Next, was a cage of Dingo's, not exactly wild dogs, like the one's that grow up in the Outback. They looked pretty tame to us. One of the Guides even said they were way more relaxed than the mainland ones. Next was the birds, we saw a Kookabura, finches, parrots. . . .Madi thought it was so funny that a bird told her hello. The White Parrot was the only one that talked to us, and I guess all he could say was, "Hello". Okay, so we didn't know how Madi would react to feeding the Lorikeet's, but 'a picture is worth a thousand words' as they say. She was okay until one of them landed on her head. Once, the park ranger shoooed it off of her, she was okay after that. Poor Tony had them all hanging off of him too. Funny, I just don't ever hear about Camels in the Outback. Crocs and Kangaroo's, but not Camels. We saw baby lambs, Goats, and Big Horn Sheep. We got to pet the Kangaroo's, but the Wallabies were not as tame so we didn't pet them. We also got to pet the Emu; they are large like ostriches and I guess you could eat them if you didn't want steak. I don't think I would be up for that though. So the Kangaroo's were interesting. One of them had a Joey in her pouch, and was nursing another Joey, but what was really interesting is that she had a pregnancy on hold while the Joey in her pouch was still gestating!!!! Poor Kangaroo. She would get a two week break between them and then be expecting again. So in essence a female Kangaroo can be pregnant permanently.....I guess no one ever told them what causes that? As we drove here from Georgia, it was a place I wanted to check out; seeing a huge Tyrannosaurus Rex from the Interstate. A few weeks ago, a friend of mine went and investigated it with her family. She gave it, "two thumbs up" and since this was going to be the only nice day we will get this weekend we made the trip. I have to say it was a really neat thing to do with the baby and hubby; I was relieved that we all had a great time. I was the only one who had to pay to get in, but even I got a discounted rate ;-)! We walked through the museum, let Madi dig in the sand (she was not a fan AT ALL), saw the big dinosaurs as she howled, "Raaar" as fearsome as she could manage. I think her favorite part was walking around with us; not being strapped down in a stroller. Of course, my tip toeing girl fell down a few times. Hopefully, she will keep growing into her feet. She went on the playground but that didn't workout, because the equipment was too hot to play on. I found one swing in the shade, but she didn't stay on it for long either. Lately, her moods have been like a roller coaster. One minute we are happy and the next huge tears, kicking and screaming. We are on the last day for antibiotics to heal the current staph infection, so I imagine her crankiness was due in part to that. I am also 99% sure we are cutting two year molars as well and all at once we are asserting our independence. It is turning out to be quite a challenge for us all. Funny, I remember thinking to myself, the last time she had a staph infection, "Who is this child; where did my baby go?" I hope she returns to her even tempered nature soon for eveyone's sake. I would say today, over all she did quite well, we only had a few hysterical outburts. She was very tired after we let her walk (actually she ran most of it) around the display part once again. I was thinking (okay hoping) that she would pass out on the way home, but she found the strength to stay awake and fuss the whole way back. She is difinitly testing boundaries; becoming very strong willed. We are having trouble with her keeping her seatbelt straps around her shoulders now. She knows how to un do the harness. So, we look in the back seat and she is waiving her arms around, says, "Hey Mama, Hey Dada!" Little Monkey! I think it's time to introduce a "time out" from now on......dun dun dun. I will let you know how it goes ;-). Here is the problem: how do you have a time out while driving down the road? Let me know if you figure that one out?

By the way, I got a new camera and I am loving it! Tony and I are going to sell the old one on Ebay, but I am so excited to have a true Digital Single Lens Reflex Nikon now. It was time for an upgrade anyway, the old one was starting to be a hassle to use. Nothing wrong with it just noticing some flaws with the old style= Lag times between shots, how long it took to turn on and so on. . .I guess you could say the Easter Bunny knew what I wanted and brought it to me. . . . . only a day early. I think the pictures I have been taking with it are coming out phenominal! Of course, with Madison for a subject it's hard not to get a phenominal picture though....Erin Davishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16216135440585344228noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36772377.post-86381903928826738872009-04-14T17:00:00.000-07:002009-04-14T17:49:11.255-07:00Easter 2009 and some exciting news. . . .

Easter was very good this year. My mom came up to spend the weekend with us for the first time since we moved to Kentucky. The original plan was that we were going to drive down to Georgia, but as it turned out my Dad wasn't able to be home for the holiday :(. He is going to be getting some time off the first weekend in May and we are going to drive down to spend the weekend with them then. Madison and my mom played, danced, sang, colored and read stories. It was great to see them spending time together. Madison decided at 6:30am on Easter Sunday that it was time to get up, but I convinced her to stay quiet until 7 or so. Tony and I got up and let her see her Easter Basket. Of course, Tony went back to bed and I stayed up to supervise. My mom, Madison and I enjoyed breakfast while watching Madi play with her new toys. We invited the Lopez's to join us for Easter Supper and Egg Hunting after church services. We let the kids color Easter Eggs and then Nicole and I hid them in an empty field by our house. After the eggs were found we let the kids chase bubbles. Everyone was so worn out from all the running around, but it was worth it to see the kids smile and laugh. Although, we missed our GA family, it turned out to be a good idea to stay home anyway, because the baby came up with another Staph Infection. We have been spending lots of time dealing with multiple soakings and a poor baby dealing with a painful boil. This time it wasn't on her toe. . .it was inside her diaper. I have never seen anything like it before. I was happy to have my mom around for her wisdom and moral support. I would have been a basket case without her by my side. Madison did have a great time visiting with her "Gammy" despite the pain from the infection. We have all been treated for the infection now, and hopefully once this clears up it will never come back to our house again! It looks much better now and it finally drained on it's own. I get to take her back to the doctor for a follow-up once we are done with the antibiotics.

So the exciting news is that this Davis Family is moving to Camp LeJeune, North Carolina. but not at a great time. They usually have it from 10-Noon. Her naptime is right in the middle. I also use this day as my "day off" from working out. Today they announced that they will be having two sessions on Wednesdays, which is exciting because it will be in the afternoon. YEA!!!! We can have our nap and not be grouchy and have to leave! Today was not only special for our weekly playgroup, but in addition the base put on an Egg Hunt. Tony made it home from work in time to join us for the fun. . . .I love it when he can participate in these sweet moments of Madison's life. Madison had a great time picking up the eggs, but as can be expected the "hunt" was over in matter of seconds. Even for her age group, 0-4, the kids scooped 'em all up in the blink of an eye. Tony and our friend Jason said afterward that one of the parents was out in the field scooping up as many eggs as she could! I was pissed about that. Everyone knows that egghunts are for the kids; you can help your kid without doing it for them. If your kid is too young then I can see one or two, even three, but when you have a full basket and other kids only got to pick up one~ You're Wrong for That! We later saw her eating a giant cupcake and counting her eggs; apparently she didn't realize that the sign posted for 0-4 meant your age.....ugh I could go on and on about this. Madison had a great time despite having eggs taken out from under her by an adult. She came out with 4 eggs in all, which is impressive with how many kids there were. I am happy to report she picked them all up on her own too! She enjoyed opening all the eggs and seeing what was inside ~"cannnny" aka Candy. At 5 O'clock everyday they fire off a tank at the parade field; so we stuck around for that. I missed the firing on the video camera, naturally. We will have many more days here on this base to get it just right. We met all our friends at the field today too, but we are sad that Sally and William are moving away. They are leaving on Friday for Fort Bliss, in Texas. Maybe we will see them again, but it's doubtful since they are Army and we are Marine Corps. But you never know. . . . .Another great day in Fort Knox for weather, as well. Monday there was snow on the ground, and Tuesday it was 36 with snow flurries. A friend of mine that grew up here told me this state is "bi polar"; and I believe it! Tony is leaving for a class trip tomorrow and will be back Friday. I am going to spend the time getting ready for my mom to visit for the Holiday weekend and the Easter Bunny to come see us! So exciting that Madison is starting to get these things now ;-).

On another note, Look at Madison's Hairbows!!!!! My friend Kimberly made them and I bought them from her before we moved. Madison finally kept them in. I caught her in the act of trying to take them out. I think that was the difference. Making her stop while in the act. They stayed in until I removed them before night night's!

Enjoy the picsErin Davishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16216135440585344228noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36772377.post-47146778499861712462009-04-04T18:29:00.001-07:002009-04-04T19:16:19.817-07:00Louisville Zoo~FINALLY and Dr. Seuss<img style="margin: 0pt 0pt 10px 10px; I took Madison knowing full well we would not make it the whole two hours. My friend Suzie brought her son Nate and she realized before hand that she too would not be there for the finale` either. Nate is about 5 months younger than Madi but they play together very well. Our freinds William and Miss Sally were present but she too had to ditch out early.....It was a good try and Madi did look adorable with her Cat in the Hat head band on.....The Story teller was very animated but it was not enough to hold her attention. We heard him read the Cat in the Hat and perform two magic tricks both of which were not impressive to a 21 month old. She kept talking during his commentary and I decided she had had enough. We did not go into this event blindly; we asked what age group it was meant to be for. The librarian was reassuring that it was open to all.....all that can sit still and be quiet when told to....not our kids ;-). No harm no fowl; it was free! I just wanted to add some pics from that fun time as well.Erin Davishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16216135440585344228noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36772377.post-8871633995945480622009-03-27T10:56:00.000-07:002009-03-28T11:59:06.434-07:00Life in KentuckyPer your request I will throw a dog a bone......LOL, so lately things have been pretty mellow. I am going to insert some pictures in a slide at the end of this post to get the blog caught up to this point......Kentucky is definitely a change of pace for me and my family. Tony is busy, as usual, with work and doing well in school. He emailed the monitor for orders again last week; we still have no clue as to which coast we will be on after class graduation on June 10th. We were bummed to hear that one of our favorite parks (Otter Creek) was closed down due to budget cuts... No federal or state funding for it, so sad and thanks Mr. Obama! Tony and I loved to hike at that park when we were here 6 years ago. I never got any pictures of it, because we didn't have a camera then, but it holds fond memories for me. We did get renters in our house mid January and so far, it seems to be working out; they aren't complaining. It sure does help pay the bills! Speaking of that we got our taxes done and we are a little closer to our goals now; so that helps take some stress off our backs. I have been doing my best to keep Madison entertained indoors, because the weather has been so hard to judge here (lots of rain now). At least in 29 Palms I could always count on a sunny day! Today, we were going to take a trip to the zoo, but it was too cold and over cast outside. Since a zoo is mostly outdoors we opted not to go. The good news is: that zoo isn't going anywhere and we have until June to see it; so that's that. Madison and I have been feeling cooped up in the house alot, though. Kentucky is strange for this time of year; during March I suppose. It usually gets really warm outside around 5pm; to me that's unusual but not uncommon here. So all day long you want to curl up in warm clothes and then about dinner time you want to break out your shorts and flip flops. Being inside all the time has made for some long days. I know once we get into April and May it will be much better. At least we are done with snow here! We are slowly making some great friends; so that will help to pass the time. I have started running/walking 5 days a week on my treadmill and so far I am feeling pretty good. I started out slow and built up to alternating a 4 min run and 4 min walk....I hope to increase next week. Always room for improvement; I still have about 10 lbs of baby weight I want to get rid of......I can at least go for an hour now and in May I plan on participating in a Spouses' Spur Ride put on by the 16th Cavalry Regiment (the Army). Apparently, after your first Spur Ride you are awarded Silver spurs and after a 2nd one you are awarded Golden Spurs ~oooooo.. So Tony will get the day off to babysit and cheer me on. We will have to do 4 parts. So I am glad I have been working out and will now have a good reason to keep it up and represent the Marine Corps Wives. The Army Wives are pretty tough though; should be fun! Madison is doing pretty well, she had a nasty staff infection that is slowly healing ~I know it's been over a month already. Now her toenail looks like it will fall off; pretty gross! It doesn't seem to be bothering her anymore though. She has been enjoying a playgroup on base and there are some fun things coming up soon. There is an Egg Hunt sometime at the end of this month. This base also has an indoor pool, so I am going to try and take her to it sometime soon. She loves bath time so I am sure the pool here will be a big hit! Nice that the weather doesn't effect that ;D. Her vocabulary is getting larger and she tries to say everything. She is like a little sponge absorbing it all. The pets are doing well. Rosie got the wire off her jaw and hasn't had anymore accidents~knock on wood (yes, she was peeing on things). I thought she was mad about something, so we got her a scracthing post; she seems to be happier now. Bailey got a fence and hasn't had anymore accidents in the house either; now we have issues with shedding and mud! Our backyard is like a swamp so she needs a bath everytime she comes indoors...I try to keep her fur cleaned up but it becomes magnetized to the floor~pretty frustrating. I got a floormate the other day so I am hoping it will help. Everyone seems to be happy and healthy here; mostly for now we are just hanging in there while Daddy does his school thing. Trying to make the best of it while we are here. I will hopefully get this blog caught up and be able to manage it better in the future.....now that it's linked to my facebook page. Enjoy the pics but be warned there are tons to look through......I hope to be caught up now and not post so many to look through at once ~sorry~

end of December 08-January in GA 09

January 09 Moving In to End of January 09

February to March 2009

**We are all settled in now, so if you wanna come visit; we'll leave the light on for ya!Erin Davishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16216135440585344228noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36772377.post-87722373192357862732009-02-02T17:09:00.001-08:002009-03-27T18:55:03.423-07:00Fort Knox: Tanks and Ice stormsSo we finally are settled here at the Gold Vault in Fort Knox, Kentucky. It has been a real challenge because of the snow and ice storms that we have endured since moving here. The temperatures are rising to a melting point and all the power lines are thawing out. We had a few long days without power and lots of layering going on around here. At one point the baby and I evacuated to a recently acquired new friend. We had only met up once before the storm and we were invited to their home to spend the night. Tony had decided that it was time for him to send Madi and me to Georgia but when we got back home our power was on! It flittered out a few times but we are glad to have heat in our house again. My heart goes out to all those families that are without the comforts of home still. So the baby and I have been experiencing "Cabin Fever" and we have plans to attend a play date this week. Hopefully it will help her feel a bit better by playing with some kids her age. I am attaching some pictures from Christmas with the Davis family...

more to follow!Erin Davishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16216135440585344228noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36772377.post-5152375005390391782009-02-02T16:40:00.000-08:002009-02-02T17:34:53.237-08:00Christmas Morning, Day and Evening!<img style="margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; Madison is not acclimating to the time change well at all. She is going to bed around 6pm and then wakes up at 3am. I am not adjusting to the this routine well either. I need more rest! I know she is on the verge of cooperation but we have picked up many-many bad habits already. That is what family is for and since she has only been around her family once since she was born; they, and her are making up for lost time. She played with her Gammy and Papaw and on the 2nd day her Great Granny Gravitt came to see her and brought her a huge present to open. It was full of good things for her to play with. I am so excited for Madison to know her Great Grandmother and Grandparents. It has been a long time since she saw them. The next day we went to see Grammy and Grand Daddy in the mountains at Big Canoe. After that it was back to the city, for Cousins, Aunts and Uncles. Great Granny Gravitt made dinner for us (at age 86) and it was delicious! Madison had a wonderful time being the center of attention. My parents had a dinner date with a group of their old school mates and Madison was passed around like the bread basket! She never meets a stranger. All those Grand parents enjoyed talking with her and playing with her; a true social butterfly. She was saying thank you and hey to them all. We have just had a blast bouncing from one social thing to the next. Tony and I finally got to do some Christmas Shopping and took Madison to get her pictures made for Christmas. She didn't cry when sitting on Santa's knee but she didn't want to smile. I got a little smirk out of her. Our Mall has a Carosuel inside and a Train so we had to ride both. We got a pick in front of the huge Christmas tree at the Mall of GA and as usual it was raining, but only a drizzle. It has done nothing but rain since we showed up. The state of GA has had terrible droughts for two years; so we must be good luck for them. It's just terrible to drive around in it and shop. I am happy to report that I am done with Christmas Shopping, and Christmas Cards got mailed today. They may be late for you but you all know my motto! BLTN. I stayed up til 11pm getting them all addressed and stamped. I have had them ready to mail since before the move but just had to wait on pictures. I still have to wrap a buttload of presents but I may cheat and just open all Madi's toys for her to see on Christmas morning. For the next 4 days we will be with Tony's side of the family. We are going to open presents with the cousins tomorrow and then on Christmas Eve we are going to My side of the family for our "traditional" free-for-all. The adults draw names but every child gets a present from each family~over 10 gifts a piece. You can imagine the chaos that is envoked. This year it will be at my Mom and Dad's house. We are going to stay in Buford, with my parents until the 28th or so. We will stay with the Davis's until Tony leaves for KY. He has orders to report on Jan 1, 09; Madison and I are going to stay behind until he gets a date for delivery of our house stuff. So if I don't get to see you by the end of the year, maybe I will see you in 2009. . . .

well I better go it's late already and my daughter is a really early riser these days!Erin Davishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16216135440585344228noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36772377.post-963441175707248472008-12-20T18:41:00.000-08:002008-12-22T19:02:38.895-08:00Rosie's visit to the VetSo I woke the next morning and took my kitty to see a vet in Marble Hill, GA . My In-Laws have taken their dogs to her. I dropped her off to be sedated so she could see inside her mouth to see if my prognosis was right. . . Routine right~not so much! She called me back and told me the kitty had a broken mandible (ripped in half), an exposed jaw bone (inside her mouth) and the really bad odor was from two scabs under eyes that were filled with gunk~ she was sure she had cancer and needed to be put down. She said she could refer me to an oral veternarian surgeon (ca-ching ca-ching ca-ching). But if money was an issue I could call her back within 15 mins to have the cat put down. DEVASTATION doesn't even describe how I felt! I couldn't even comprehend all that was wrong with her to relay it to Tony. He assured me that we would be getting the Expensive 2nd Opinion. I just was beside myself thinking I drug this sick kitty across the country over 5 days in all that pain and even took her out at the Grand Canyon. I felt so guilty and defeated. I called her vet the next day in 29 Palms and asked them about her again. I was not reassured that she was okay. The Vet Tech said Cancer can show up at age 5 in cats and if it was in the mouth or that area that it was not going to be a good outcome. I cried for two days about my kitty. I picked her up from the Vet in Marble Hill and drove another hour away to the specialist. I got there and they didn't have my appointment in the books. I just about had a nervous breakdown, my kitty needed to be seen. So the receptionists got it all straight with the oral surgeon and it was just a misunderstanding. She had been expecting me and the information was misinterrepted by the MH Vet's office. To wrap up this unpleasant post~she called me after sedating Rosie and confirmed the broken mandible, the exposed jaw bone and discovered a chipped tooth! The best news of all ~the cat did not have cancer and she even cleaned her teeth while she was out. I could come and pick her up in a few hours. It gets even better she called me back 15 minutes later having discovered the gunk the other vet thought could be cancer was from two puncture wounds under each of Rosie's eyes. The mystery of what happened to her was solved~ she had been in a cat fight the night before we left. So this poor kitty is now on the mend. She has stitches in her mouth, under both eyes, a pulled tooth, and a wire to hold her jaw together while it heals. It will stay on for 6 weeks and the stitches will just dissolve on their own. What a night mare and now she is doing well. I was so relieved and even Tony is being nice to her. He is not a cat fan but now that we have such an expensive one he is making more of an effort! He is calling her his "Little Bruiser". I got my Christmas Wish early and now that my entire family (including 4 legged beasties) are all safe and healthy my list is satisfied~Thanks Santa and Glory Be to God!

****WARNING The Slide Show is a little SCARY for young kids and squeamish People!********

Erin Davishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16216135440585344228noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36772377.post-72448847519298890652008-12-20T18:05:00.000-08:002008-12-20T19:18:05.572-08:00TN, MS, AL to GA~Finally the Roadtrip Ends!I know many of you do not like the slide show but it is easier for me. I can only upload 5 pics at a time with the photo feature on this site and takes forever. Another peeve of mine is the pictures always add to the very beginning of my post and it's not easy to move them around within my text. So, please bare with me until I can learn another way. If you have trouble viewing my slide show please let me know.. ..

On to this installment:

We left TN in the pouring down rain. I had to put the cat under my jacket to bring her out side. She still had not eaten anything but I was not that concerned at this point. I was actually feeling better because she was drinking water. I felt like she could have a little motion sickness and just didn't want to eat. After we all loaded up we headed out to the Land of Loved Ones! We filled up the tank ~check out that gas price~. Our Navigation system took us on a cool little detour, again, through a small town in AL we fondly refer to as "BINGO! Every quarter mile the entire town was having a "charity bingo". Tony and I laughed and pointed at the parlors and shouted Bingo! We tried to see who could spot the most Bingo Halls but we lost track of who won. I just can not understand how the entire town could afford to have so many games going at once. . . .must have been some very wealthy people that over see the town LOL! Madi took an early nap and then it was water works just before we stopped for lunch. We ate at our first Wendy's in Birmingham, AL, since leaving CA. A lady, with a heavy Russian accent, in the restaurant talked to us and she was quite taken with Madi. She asked what her name was and I told her. All of a sudden she (the lady) got excited and remarked, "that it was just like the girl, who lived in ocean and the boy loved her and she became human." ~If you are thinking Ariel, so did I. We were nice but brought the conversation to a close. We were close to Atlanta and we had to get back on the road. My spirits soared when we saw those beautiful red and black trucks; I knew I was really close! QWQ ~Baby! We got to the GA State Visitor's Center just before rush hour and that would put us going through Downtown on the tail end. Timed just right, we left the baby out to stretch her legs and called our parents to let them know we were close. . .We stopped at our favorite Mexican Restaurant, Monterrey's! After a delicious meal to end our 5 day road trip saga we made it to my Mom and Dad's to finally relax. . . .

The Pictures of us at Monterrey's were taken by Tony's phone so they came out a little fuzzy! The weather was cold, windy and the rain was a light drizzle. We stayed at another La Quinta Inn and this one had a duck pond in the back. Madison is enamoured with "Cack Cacks". We had to get a picture in front of the pond and laugh at them swimming in the cold, windy and rainy morning. After that we were in for another 6 hour day in the car. So far so good with Little Munch, but we knew our time was running out for good behavior!

We hit Arkansas pretty early and Miss Madi had to have a snack. Tony thought chocolate cookies would be good to give her. As you can see she enjoyed them emensely. . . .Gas Prices continued to fall now that we were getting closer to the East Coast. The Weather did clear up finally~until we hit Mississippi/Tennessee it began to rain. We dropped off the poor kitty at the La Quinta Inn in Memphis and then went to dinner. Where else are we going to eat? A PF Chang's! I love it!Erin Davishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16216135440585344228noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36772377.post-56870965581270823252008-12-09T06:19:00.000-08:002008-12-20T17:45:28.525-08:00NM, TX, to Shawnee, OKLong Long way from CA to GA. I mean really long. Tony and I were going to attempt a trip to Graceland when we got to Memphis but our cat was not doing well. So I decided that Graceland would always be there; we only excursion would be nice to break up the long days. Anyway back to the cat, she wasn't eating or drinking much and we noticed this horrible odor coming from her mouth. Everytime she 'meowed' we wanted to vomit. I tried to look at her mouth but she wouldn't let me get near it. I thought she may have had some sticker bush prickles in her mouth from her weird attack on Thursday before we left. I spoke to her Vet in Twentynine Palms and he advised we get her seen as soon as we can. She didn't act very sick and was walking around and not being lethargic the only thing I noticed that was odd, was she wasn't purring when you pet her or touch her. So I knew she wasn't feeling well. I tried to get some pictures of the gas prices and interesting things we saw along the way. Some things were impossible as we were attempting our own version of "Cannon Ball Run" across the Southlands!

<img style="margin: 0px auto 10px; It was about a 6 hour drive and not too far out of our way to Flagstaff, Arizona. We had the Navigation System set on shortest distance so it took us on Historic Route 66. It was really neat to see some towns that we would never even have known existed if we didn't make that mistake. Like this little mountain town in California named Oatman. It was like being in the N.GA mountains but with donkeys running around in the streets. The locals had decorated some of the bushes on the side of the road with different themes for Christmas. I didn't get a pic of them though because I was driving and Tony didn't think it was worth wasting his time. However the donkeys were worth a stop to snap a pic of. . . We enjoyed the scenic route through the canyons there too. It was majestic and pituresque definitely on a road not well traveled but well maintained.

This guy was just hanging out off of Route 66 before we got to Oatman~thought to ourselves now that's a bull!

Back view from the one street town

Madison and Bailey thought the donkey's were dogs. Our trip started off very eventful the day before we left. We were trying to save time in the morning by packing the night before and I drove into the garage for more light. The only problem with that was that we had already to attached the roof bag with stuff in it to the top of the Truck ~whoops! It didn't cause much damage but I am glad we bought a cargo net since I broke the straps off of it (Cheezy Grin). After we fixed that we noticed some thing moving around outside and the dog started to alert us of danger. So Tony grabbed the flashlight (that I kept out ~so prepared) and I ran in to see if my cat was still in the house. We thought it could be a coyote and it may have taken off with her. Yes, it was the cat and when Tony found her she was covered in thorns and her back was bowed up as high as it could get. I ran over to get her because the last time Tony grabbed her while she was in a frightened state she bit him and clawed him to pieces. I picked her up and we took her inside to find her back paws were bleeding and a few of her claws were missing. Thorns were in her ears, head, eyebrows, whiskers, her left eye, and in her nose. I had to pick them out one by one. Her mouth was bleeding as well. After we got things settled back down we thought about what could have happened. We think she saw some small critter that lives in a thorn bush and got tangled up in the thorns. She bolted away to the fence and may have gotten caught in it and possibly bit the fencing and chewed her back feet up trying to get out. At this point she is still very skittish and has eaten very little but she is traveling well. We did get a picture of her at the Grand Canyon, she kept hearing the 'call the of the wild'!She is sleeping alot and not being a pain like the dog. . . . Okay so Bailey is not a good traveler. However, this is not her first time at the rodeo. I took her to GA in the car a few years ago, so it took her a couple of hours to stop freaking out. I The baby did exceptionally well; the DVD player is a life saver! So here are some of our pics from the first day. . . .

Moving Truck

Last Denny's Breakfast in Twentynine Palms, CA

The Coolest Kids in the world!

No More Breakfast dates . . . . :(

Madi playing in the empty kitchen cabinets . ..

Erin Davishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16216135440585344228noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36772377.post-33032278087386884972008-11-26T19:17:00.000-08:002008-11-27T20:09:01.514-08:00Happy Thanksgiving

Hello everyone, I hope you are eating turkey and spending time with those you love. We are getting the chance to have dinner with a couple of friends that we had Thanksgiving Dinner with about 4 years ago. Only this year we have grown, from just 4 adults to a large crowd with kids! It was a fun day but many naps were skipped and sleep was needed. We are so Thankful to have great friends that open their hearts and homes to us. We are going to miss The Rummler's, AGAIN! This year we also got to spend the holiday with Jane and Peachy Benz. Tony used to work for Jane's husband at TTECG and he is in Iraq until Spring time. We missed you Dan and Godspeed; Stay Safe! The Benz's will also be missed when we leave. Peachy and Madison loved to do "lunch" together (as well as their Mommies=( ). . . .hopefully we will see everyone again in the future. We had to change our date for leaving to Friday now because they pushed the packing back one day. I wanted to post some pictures of the baby from the last few weeks of happenings. We have managed to have a little fun while tackling the daunting task of preparing to move! Tony and I are so excited to be spending time with our families for the holiday's this year. I know everyone is going to love getting to know Madison better, and she will love all the attention. Love and miss you all and wish you all the best for Thanksgiving!Erin Davishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16216135440585344228noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36772377.post-86439039072052408032008-11-14T19:28:00.000-08:002008-11-14T19:48:09.878-08:00A little over 2 weeks left hereOkay well I pulled out my calendar and was stunned to realize I am on a rapid countdown. I have a little over 2 weeks left, but with a big holiday included~time is running out! There is still so much I want to do; so I am trying really hard to fit it all in. I really don't want leave any loose ends untied and give Kharma any reason for sending me/us back here (hahaha). I really will miss all my friends that I am leaving behind; you guys are like extended family. But it is finally my turn to leave this place; I hope you all will be happy for me. I also thought it was about time I filled everyone in on the next month's plans. Tony has orders to report to MC3 (Maneuver Captains Career Course) in Fort Knox, KY on Jan 1st. We have plans for the Packers to come on December 1st, 2nd, and 3rd; they will pick up our boxes on December 4th and we are leaving right after that. We have tentatively planned for a stop at the Grand Canyon, but with a 17 month old, a dog, 2 cats and a cranky husband (JK I LOVE U) it may have to be Nixed! I am just being a realist. We will be heading for GA to spend our time off with our family of whom we have not seen for Christmas in 3 years. Incidentally I am trying to find one of cats a new home and have been trying for a few months now. If anyone is willing to take her it would help us out tramendously. She is a very sweet natured cat and very good with little children. We are going to be living on base and we are one pet over limit. I can send you pictures of her if want and if you would like to come and meet her that would be fine too. ~ Anyway, back to the travel plans. I am not sure when Madison and I will be going to KY? I may wait until Tony checks-in, gets our house assigned and our property has been delivered. I know Madison's Grandparent's won't mind us staying a few extra days =). So, if you are in GA and want to get together we will be in Buford, and Big Canoe through out the month and some of January. I will also come see you Stephanie and Sharon; maybe we can meet in the middle somewhere ;) There is so much going on and if I have sent you an email asking for your address and you haven't sent it yet ~please do as soon as you can. If you have sent it ~Tanks and bunch! If you have not been contacted about it, don't worry I have your info already. We are all super excited about this next phase of our lives. I will also probably retire this blog and start a new. . .We're on a countdown!Erin Davishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16216135440585344228noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-36772377.post-2070591912284581612008-11-12T11:01:00.000-08:002008-11-12T14:29:45.457-08:00Twin DayOkay today I got to see what it would have been like to have Twins. Madison got to play with Marti Lewis today and as you can see from the pictures great mom's think a like. We did not plan on dressing them in the same outfit but I almost died when she came around the corner. It was like looking at my daughter. Marti is only a few weeks younger than Madi, she is about an inch taller, but Madi has a good 2 lbs on her. They have the same color hair and when they wear the same clothes it is hard to tell them apart. I even got them to take a nap today in the same room at the same time; Madi's first sleep over LOL!!!

Marti is welcome any time Anne. So this year it's no surprise that Madi would be a Pink Poodle Puppy for Halloween. My dreams came true, I got to hold and pet my daughter/puppy this year! We took our pumpkins over to the Douglas's House and then Madi played with Peyton. They ran around the driveway a million and one times; I was sure she would be a sleep before Trick-or-treating! We went onto base after the older kids carved the pumpkins . We walked the neighborhood with the Rummler's. I didn't get an photos of them because my camera battery died =(. Stacy got some of them kids in their costume though. I felt really bad too about her costume being so warm, it was 89 degrees for Halloween night. I know we live in the desert but it is usually really cold here on Oct. 31st. We came home and Madi still didn't want to let go of her Halloween Pumpkin and candy!

Isn't she the cutest Pink Poodle you have ever seen?Erin Davishttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16216135440585344228noreply@blogger.com0
